I was a strange kid. I've always been a night owl, and wanted to stay up late. Like, real late! I would go to a friends house and the whole family was asleep by 8pm and I was still awake at 2:30am. I'm still that way now! Sometimes, you get up so late, that you just want to hang out in your super cool pajamas all day long!
I always had a hard time playing Q-bert. I always accidentally jumped off of the side right before I cleared the board. And then, of course, you get the "#@?!*" . Which we always assumed meant some kind of cussing. That's probably the reason we liked the game. It just seemed a little sneaky and bad.
I loved Frogger! This game was so awesome. It's a lot like one of my favorite Atari 2600 games, "Freeway". Do you remember that one? It was a chicken trying to cross a highway. I never could figure out why that little guy was trying to get over there though.
Do you remember those t-shirt stores in the mall? In the 80's, every mall had one. A store will countless iron-ons to pick from to get transfered to a ringer t-shirt (usually white t-shirt with colored ring collar and sleeves) or a baseball shirt (usually white t-shirt with raglan sleeves). Problem with iron ons usually was that they would look bad after your mom forgot that they couldn't go in the dryer, or the shirt was too stretchy. Either way, you would spend your hard earned allowance on an awesome Mr/T shirt, only to have the picture all cracked and jacked up looking after one week. Still, where else could you find exercising cats on a shirt? Or glitter pictures of Ponch and John from CHiPs? Sadly, the iron on trend is gone, but there are still some die hards out there, hawking their vintage wares on Ebay and Etsy! I came across this shop today and just had to share it in case you never got the glitter Mystery Machine shirt you always wanted. You know my motto is, "It's never to late to have a good childhood."
to have different items on each. I am sure there are lots of sites and stores out there with these items, in case you don't find EXACTLY what you want. But these guys have some pretty fun stuff.
I found one of these Ms Pac Man Table Top Games at a garage sale for $2 years ago. It's my dream to own a Ms. Pac Man machine, but I guess this is a good place holder for now. I just love looking up at my little Pac Man Shelf and seeing her sitting there and getting dusty. Truth is, these aren't so easy to play, and not as much fun as they look. The handheld video game had a long way to go when these came out. I'd love to own the entire mini arcade!
